Hindi Poem : Chandu's granny

Poem: Chandu’s granny

Chandu kee nanee
Kahey kahanee
Ek tha sharbat
Ek tha paanee
Nanee peeye sharbat
Chandu peeye paanee
Na Na nanee
Main piyunga sharbat
tum piyo panee.


Chandu ki Nanee चंदू की नानी Chandu’s grand-mother (maternal grand-mother)
Kahay ek kahanee कहे एक कहानी tells a story (granny tells)
Ek tha sharbat एक था शरबत It means there was a glass of squash (kindly note glass-tumbler word not indicated in poem)
Ek tha paanee.
एक था पानी | There was glass of water ( please note a glass of water (kindly note glass-tumbler word not indicated in poem)
Nanee peeye sharbat
नानी पीये शरबत Granny drinks squash

Chandu peey panee
चंदू पीये पानी Chandu drinks water.

na na nanee
न न नानी No, No, granny


( Here Chandu , grandson says/interrupts)
Main piyunga sharbat
मैं पियूँगा शरबत I will drink squash.

Tum piyo panee
तुम पियो पानी | You drink water.

(please remember, when you are very close to some one ,it even could be mother)    (please remember, when you are very close to some one ,it even could be mother or granny, children tend to call tum instead aap.)
